Becrypt Limited was formed in 2001 to meet the growing demand for high-level software encryption products in the personal computer and PDA marketplace. Our corporate philosophy is simple. We aim to provide the best software encryption and secure remote access products available, to fully protect all computer users.

We protect customers in a number of key Government areas, including Central Government, Defence, Law Enforcement, and Customs and Excise. We are also active in the corporate sector, with key customers in Financial Services, Pharmaceuticals, Insurance, and Banking. Our software encryption and secure remote access products have been successfully designed to meet stringent government security policy and standards whilst maintaining the usability, ease of deployment and ease of management demanded by the corporate sector.

We play a leading role in the Information Assurance industry through membership and participation in the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) and the Organisation for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) where we sit on the Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP) committee. In addition, we currently chair the Crypto Developers Forum – Baseline WG (UK). In-addition Becrypt are members of the Parliamentary Information Technology Committee (PITCOM).

Becrypt have recently been positioned in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100, the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Mobile Data Protection and have won awards from SC Magazine and TechWorld.

Our Leading Software Encryption Team

Becrypt’s core technology team has decades of experience of software encryption and software development, having previously worked with companies like Dr.Solomon's, Sophos, and RSA. Prior to founding Becrypt, the team worked for Topsoft Limited, where they successfully obtained CAPS product certification for a range of products from the Communications-Electronics Security Group (CESG), the UK Government’s Information Assurance group within GCHQ. Since formation, Becrypt has built a management team with a wide range of experiences in the international software security market, as well as in global business development, international marketing, and sales.

Bernard Parsons
Chief Executive Officer

A co-founder of Becrypt, Bernard draws upon a thorough understanding of both the security market and Becrypt technology, having been Chief Technology Officer he was responsible for all aspects of product development. Bernard became CEO in 2008 and has led the company through significant growth, prior to Becrypt, he held a range of development and management posts within the security industry. Bernard has a research and lecturing background, having gained a Doctorate in Robotics, and lectured in Computer Science.


Gary Thomas
Chief Operating Officer

Gary was the original seed investor in Becrypt and joined the board as a Non Executive Director in 2005. He was later appointed Executive Director in 2009, with responsibility for internal operations. Prior to Becrypt, Gary spent 20 years in the interest-rate derivatives market, becoming a Director of Fuji Capital Markets (London), before spending four years as Head of Trading in their Hong Kong office. Since leaving the city in 2002, Gary has been an active investor in a number of start-up companies.


Nigel Lee
Technical Director

A co-founder of Becrypt, Nigel is responsible for assessing new technology, future trends and innovations whilst handling technology partnerships with customers and partner organisations. Previously as Technical Director, Nigel was responsible for product architecture and design, for developing the customer support structure, and for managing consultancy work. Before founding Becrypt Nigel held IT Technical and Managerial positions in a variety of organisations in the UK, Europe, and South East Asia.

Steve Bellamy
Non Executive Chairman

Steve has over 28 years experience in both business operations and investment. He is Chairman of The First Close Technology Fund, which specialises in investing in early stage UK technology companies and is a Non-executive Director of three other technology companies. In 2007 he also became a Founder Partner and CEO of Accretion Capital, a specialist European technology fund management business, launched to capitalise on emerging technology opportunities in Europe. He has held a number of executive roles in his career, including Chief Operating Officer and Finance Director for Sherwood International plc from 1994 to 2001. Prior to joining Sherwood, Steve was a UK investment Director of Brierley Investments, an investor in undervalued UK companies, and before that worked at Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) in New Zealand and New York. He trained as a Chartered Accountant in New Zealand.
