Following a recent Board update, Becrypt has announced the addition of former GCHQ Information Assurance lead Gerry Cantwell to join Becrypt’s Board as a non-executive director. This latest appointment is aimed at further supporting and enhancing the company's focus on the development and delivery of products and services into government, defence and security sectors, as well as related Critical National Infrastructure markets.
Gerry has held a range of leadership roles within public and private sector. As Head of Information Assurance Services, within GCHQ, Gerry was responsible for transforming delivery of services to government and industry to meet the rapidly evolving demands of cyber and technology strategies. From his Intelligence background, Gerry transitioned to a senior role within the Ministry of Defence as Director Information Systems and Services, responsible for the operation and protection of the MOD’s global IT estate, and leading on MOD’s IT transformation agenda. Gerry was recruited to establish a new role of CIO for the National Crime Agency, before moving into the private sector as CTO of UK Cloud X.
Becrypt CEO Bernard Parsons commented, “Gerry has previously supported the business in an advisory capacity, providing significant benefit from his direct experience in large scale technology transformation, and his extensive experience of working with senior stakeholders across both government and industry. Gerry’s background and expertise is well aligned to our increased focus on working with organisations that face elevated cyber threat within both the public and private sectors, as demonstrated by our new products and services developed in collaboration with UK Government. We are delighted to have Gerry’s engagement to support our continued evolution and growth, and are excited by the potential impact he and fellow NED Nick Hopkinson offer the business”.
