Becrypt is proud to announce that CEO and Co-Founder Dr Bernard Parsons has been awarded an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for Services to Digital Technology in the 2018 New Year’s Honours list.

Bernard has more than 25 years of experience in the technology industry, in fields including robotics, embedded systems and telecommunications. After co-founding Becrypt in 2001, he has focused on high-assurance security technology that has been widely adopted by government bodies and private sector organisations of all sizes. Bernard is a passionate advocate of the UK’s cyber security community, particularly entrepreneurs and start-ups within the industry. He supports a number of industry groups, including the Cyber Growth Partnership, and chairs the High Assurance UK Cyber Industry Association.

Commenting on the award, Dr Bernard Parsons, said: “This year’s Honours list included a fantastic group of technology leaders, and I’m extremely proud to be among them. It is encouraging to see so many from the technology field included this year, from established leaders to innovative new entrepreneurs.

“I believe that our cyber security industry is of paramount importance, both for our national security and as a creator of jobs and revenue within the fast-growing technology sector. Supporting our home-grown cyber security companies is essential if the UK is to maintain and strengthen its sovereign defence capabilities, and its position as a leading innovator in technology.”
