Mobile working has opened up new opportunities for companies to offer staff an improved work life balance and improve overall productivity.

With the unpredictability of business, changeable weather, staff illness and an increasingly geographically spread workforce, home and mobile working is now becoming adopted by many private and public sector organisations. It also addresses many issues of needing to reduce office costs, provide flexibility for staff and green issues by reducing travel.

Protecting data and systems

However, with remote working the boundaries change. IT departments are faced with the challenge of providing anytime, anywhere access to corporate systems and data, while maintaining network security and data integrity.

Users may access corporate data in many different ways via email or the web, using a home computer or laptop, These may become vulnerable to external attack with malware and viruses (malicious code that can infiltrate a machine) that can enable others to gain access to computers illegally.

Providing secure access

Becrypt offers a range of technologies that can provide the security and flexibility to support remote working. Trusted Client allows staff to work securely from a PC with a network connection, transforming an unmanaged machine into a secure access point.

Trusted Client creates a secure environment on the host PC where the hard drive is never accessed. The hard drive is bypassed so that no data can be leaked and no malware infect the network. In addition, any data that saved to Trusted Client is automatically encrypted, or it can be configured so that no data can be saved.

Since Trusted Client can be managed centrally, individual devices can be repudiated remotely should they be lost or stolen – providing a robust, low cost solution that minimizes IT overheads.
