Becrypt Trusted Client is implemented to enable staff to continue to use home PCs whilst meeting the Code of Connection requirements to access GCSX. Trusted Client ensures that any malware from the host’s PC will not infect the network, and that ‘corporate’ data cannot leak onto the host PC. For protecting data when outside the organisation, Becrypt DISK Protect is used for laptop encryption and Media Client to protect data in transit on removable media such as CDs.
The Council runs a policy of thin client desktops, whilst also operating a number of ‘walk up’ PCs for when data needs to be sent to third parties or external locations. For these PCs, Becrypt Connect Protect is installed, ensuring that the IT department can track who accesses and saves what data, where and when.
“We were keen to source our security and encryption from one supplier to provide an end-to-end solution that is simple to use and upkeep,” said Bob Thomas, Head of IT, Mole Valley District Council. “By implementing Becrypt’s solutions, we can ensure that our workers can access council information securely from home, whilst reducing our laptop estate by over 40 devices. There is also now only one system for the IT department to maintain, significantly reducing our support overheads.”
