Perception about the value of certain types of organisational data is one of the primary drivers of data loss. A sizeable number of computer users do not view security of their organisation’s data in the same way that they view, for example, that of their laptop.
Electronic data is far less impressive than a physical asset; thousands of lines of data held on a USB flash drive commands far less respect than the latest laptop. Yet the impact to an organisation could be just as damaging if a USB flash drive is lost or stolen.
