The news that the UK data watchdog, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), could be introducing fines of up to £500,000 for Companies that are reckless with personal data will no doubt raise data security higher up the corporate agenda and will be a wake up call for many.
However, putting the proper Information Assurance controls and technology in place will not happen overnight, companies should start to plan and act now to avoid the Information Commissioner’s new teeth.
